The Triple Impression Technique
Dentures have four surfaces:
- The Gum Surface
- The Tooth Surface
- The Tongue Surface (inside surface)
- The Lips and Cheek Surface (outside surface)
All dentists take a moulding of the first surface
which is the gum surface. The second surface, the tooth surface, does not
require an impression as it is set by the teeth that the dentist chooses.
Until now, clinics have not taken mouldings of the
third and fourth surfaces, the tongue and lips and cheek surface.
Instead of taking just one moulding, we use a new,
triple impression technique, whereby even the sides of the denture are
customized. These extra impressions create a mirror image of the tongue on the
inside, and the lips and cheek on the outside.

how the process works.
The benefits of further customizing a denture include:
- The denture will feel a part of you in a way that traditional
dentures do not
- Improved fit - it is easier to hold the dentures in place because
their shape precisely fits with all mouth movements
- Reduces amount of food particles that get trapped under dentures
- Non-surgical facelift effect: the dentures build out the face,
giving improved facial support and a more youthful appearance
- Can improve speech, particularly for those who have had speech
issues with their old dentures
It is important to note that this technique is no
substitute for making all of the other aspects of the dentures correctly. As you
will see from the rest of this website, we take the same care and concern over
all of the measurements required to create superb dentures.
Typical patient comments after having had 3-D dentures
fitted include: "I can't believe how much younger I look with my new teeth,"
and "These are the first dentures that really feel a part of me."
